KATHMANDU, Frb 9: The Sudurpaschim government collapsed on Thursday after Chief Minister (CM) Rawal lost his confidence vote on Thursday.
In today’s vote, the ruling partner Nagarik Unmukti Party made a move against CM Rawal. The party did not attend the meeting to cast its vote.
Earlier, the Nagarik Unmukti Party had decided not to give a vote of confidence to the government of Sudurpaschim province.
Rawal was appointed to the post of Chief Minister on 11 January. Under Nepal’s constitution, Rawal must seek a vote of confidence within a month of his appointment.
Out of 53 members in the provincial assembly, Rawal needed 27 votes for a majority. The Nepal Congress, the opposition party in the provincial assembly, has 19 legislators, the CPN-UML has 10, the CPN (Maoist Centre) has 11, the Nagarik Unmukti Party has seven and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has one legislator.
