Nepal receives booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines on February 13

KATHMANDU, February 8: Nepal will receive the first shipment of booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines on February 13.
According to Sagar Dahal, Head of Child Health and Immunization Section, Family Welfare Division, Department of Health Services, the government has confirmed that he will receive booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccines on February 13-16. .
Previously, the government had sought vaccines from the Global Alliances for Vaccines and Immunization (Gavi) and secured supplies. But the arrival date of the vaccines was not set. “In the first phase, Nepal will receive 1.5 million doses of bivalent vaccines from Pfizer in three installments and the date of the third arrival has not yet been announced,” he said.
It should be noted that the government had urged GAVI to ensure the supply of three million booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines under COVAX facilities to Nepal in view of the increase in BF 7 variant COVID-19 infection in the close neighbors India and China. For now, the infection has slowed down in Nepal and as of Tuesday there were three active cases of COVID-19 across the country.
