Kathmandu, February 6
More than a week after he started training Members of the Nepalese cricket team, Indian Monty Desai, received the official appointment as the team’s head coach.
Chandra Rai, head of the Coordination Section of the Organization of the National Sports Council says it has approved Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) decision appoint Desai as coach after consulting with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
“Now, you can sign the contract and start the job.”
It took almost a month for CAN to select the head coach this time due to updated government rules on foreigners participating in sporting events. The national cricket body had started the appointment process by call for applications on January 9.
Desai’s first assignment will be the tri-series against Namibia and Scotland in the ICC World Cup Cricket League 2 kicking off in Kathmandu on February 14.
