Police have arrested an orphanage operator in connection with two rape cases in the Kanchanpur district of Sudurpaschim.
Shankar Bahadur Chand, the head of Mahakali Bal Anathalaya in Mahendranagar, Bhimdatta Township of the district, was arrested on Tuesday on the charge of raping 14 and 16-year-old girls who were in the orphanage, reports DSP Chakra Bahadur Shah, spokesman for the District Police Office.
The orphanage is operated by the Social Welfare Council, a government body for carrying out welfare activities.
Additional investigation is underway.
