Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of midfielder Jonjo Shelvey from Newcastle.
The 30-year-old has signed a contract with the club until the summer of 2025 and will wear the number 6 shirt at the City Ground.
He is the second deadline day signing, as Felipe joined from Atlético Madrid, while Keylor Navas will become the third signing.
The PSG goalkeeper has agreed terms and completed a medical in France and will officially join once final paperwork is complete, which Forest hopes will be a formality.
The 36-year-old former Real Madrid player could make his debut this Sunday at Leeds.
Shelvey was enthusiastic about the move as he believes it will give him the opportunity for more regular first-team football, having found himself up the pecking order in the North East, although his opportunities have been limited more recently by a minor injury. .
Shelvey was persuaded to sign for Forest not only by some positive words from Steve Cooper, but also by Newcastle boss Eddie Howe.
“I spoke to Eddie Howe and he had a lot of good words to say about Steve Cooper. I previously knew him from my time at Liverpool so I knew what a fantastic manager he was, but meeting him for the first time has been a breath of fresh air,” said Shelvey.
