INDIA, Jan 28: Two Indian Air Force fighter jets, Sukhoi 30 and Mirage 2000, crashed in the Morena district of Madhya Pradesh. Morena District Police Superintendent Ashutosh Bagari confirmed the incident. ADG Adarsh Katiyar from Madhya Pradesh told the PTI news agency that the cause of the plane crash has yet to be confirmed. He said: “It is not clear whether the planes collided with each other in the air or not.”
Adarsh Katiyar said two pilots of the crashed fighter jet got separated from the plane but were unable to get any information on the third pilot. According to the PTI news agency, two Indian Air Force fighter jets had taken off from Gwalior airport before the crash.
Expressing grief over the incident, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan wrote on Twitter: “News of Air Force Sukhoi-30 and Mirage-2000 plane crash near Kailaras in Morena is very sad. I have ordered the local administration to help the Air Force in quick rescue and relief operations. I pray to God that the pilots of the plane are safe.”
