It’s more thriller than horror, with plenty of intense moments. The infected don’t appear often — Joel and Ellie encounter more human survivors than monsters — but when they do, they’re used to great effect.
Should I have played the game?
No, the show retells the events of the first game (Jun came out in 2013) expanded some storylines and background elements.
