During an argument in 2019 at Nottingham Cottage, Harry and Meghan’s home in Kensington Palace, he claimed that William had called Meghan “rude,” “difficult” and “abrasive” and that she had “alienated half the staff.” Harry in turn accused his brother of parroting the current media narrative about his wife.
William “looked miserable,” writes Harry. “He was told that I was not humbly obeying him, that I was going to deny him or defy him, to deny his knowledge, which came from his trusted associates. Here was a script and I had it. The courage to follow it. He was in full successor mode. , and I couldn’t understand why I didn’t dutifully play the role of spare.”
His brother was also “piping hot”, Harry continued, and the two shouted at each other. Harry described handing William a glass of water, which his brother put down, then he “called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So fast.”
Harry alleged: βHe grabbed me by the collar, tore off my necklace, and he I was knocked to the ground. I landed on the dog bowl, which cracked under my back, shards cutting me. I lay there for a moment, stunned, then got to my feet and told him to get out.
William encouraged him to hit back and, when he refused, William relented and apologized, Spare continues. As he was leaving, William turned and said, “‘You don’t need to tell Meg about this.'”
“‘You mean you attacked me?'” said Harry, to which William allegedly replied, “I didn’t attack you, Harold.”
Harry wrote that the first call he made afterwards was to his therapist and he didn’t immediately tell Meghan, he saw the cut on his back and was “very sad.” Not long after, it was announced that Cambridge and Sussex would be No more office sharing.
Kensington Palace declined to comment on Harry’s allegations.
