Pathan: The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) suggested several changes in the Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer film ‘Pathan’. These also include changes in the controversial song ‘Besharam Rang’. From dialogue changes to censoring of several scenes, CBFC had asked for more than 10 cuts in ‘Pathan’.

Whereas, according to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the word ‘Raw’ has been replaced with ‘our’ while ‘lame lulle’ has been replaced with ‘torn feet’, ‘PM’ with ‘Rashtrapati or Mantri’ and 13 places with ‘PMO’. The word has been removed. ‘Ashok Chakra’ was replaced by ‘Veer Award’, ‘Ex-KGB’ by ‘Ex-SBU’ and ‘Mrs Bharatmata’ by ‘Hamari Bharatmata’. The report further states that the word Scotch was replaced with ‘drink’, while the text ‘Black Prison, Russia’ that appears in the film has been replaced with ‘Black Prison’.

Talking about ‘Besharam Rang’, the report states that several close up shots, ‘side pose’ shots and the sensuous dance movements during ‘Bahut Tang Kiya’ lyrics have been censored and replaced with ‘suitable shots’. has been changed. Talking about the cuts of the film, CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi had told PTI, “Let me reiterate that our culture and faith is glorious, complex and nuanced. And we have to be careful that it is not defined by trivia that takes the focus away from what is real and true. And as I have said before that it is most important to protect the trust between the creators and the audience and the creators should keep working in this direction. After these cuts, ‘Pathan’ has been given a U/A certificate. Let us tell you that ‘Pathan’, directed by Siddharth Anand, will be released in theaters on January 25, 2023.
