Yung Gravy The individual is getting a legal rick-rolling from himself… Rick Astley A top rapper is being sued for allegedly ripping off a singer’s voice from one of his most popular hits.
Astley filed legal documents Thursday in LA claiming that Gravy’s hugely popular “Betty (Get Money)” uses a cloned version of her own voice from 1987’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.”
In documents obtained by TMZ, Astley says Gravy and his producers — including Dillon Francis — “conspired to include deliberate and almost indistinguishable imitations of Mr. Astley’s voice throughout the song.” He’s also suing Nick Seeley (aka Popnick), the voiceover artist.
Ashley says that he never gave permission for Gravy or anyone involved in “Betty (Get Paid)” to use or impersonate his voice – and because Gravy did that, he ruined any future opportunity for Rick to collaborate with another artist in the future.
We have to say, however, that Gravy licensed the instrumental from Ashley’s ’80s hit … just not her voice.
What’s more … Astley’s lawsuit points to a few instances where Gravy allegedly claimed he was in uncharted territory to impersonate Rick, including an interview with Billboard where he said he “basically” recreated Rick’s voice, “because it was legal.” makes it as easy as possible.”

“Never Gonna Give You Up” was a huge hit for Astley, shooting to the #1 spot. “Betty” is Gravy’s most successful song to date – going gold in the US, Canada and Australia.
Ashley has filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit.
