3 to stand trial for misconduct for protest in front of Prime Minister Dahal

Three youths who were arrested after chanting slogans at an event attended by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Tuesday will be investigated for misconduct.

Police Superintendent Sitaram Rijal at District Police Range, Kathmandu, said they are preparing to extend their custody for the investigation.

A young man chanted slogans condemning exorbitant interest rates and demanding exemption from bank interest even as Prime Minister Dahal arrived in New Baneshwar around 2pm on Tuesday to attend an event to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which is celebrated annually on March 21. .

Two other young men also started chanting slogans while the police personnel deployed there tried to control the first young man. The police covered the mouths of the three youths while controlling them.

Those arrested are Uddhav Basnet, 23, from Solukhumbu; Biplav Khadka, 18, from Bajhang; and Som Sharma from Baglung.

In their statement to the police, the three said that they are affiliated with the Nepal Independent Youth Campaign and demanded the interest rate reduction from the banks.
