Rastriya Swatantra Party will continue to support the government

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to continue supporting the government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

A meeting of the RSP central committee held on Monday decided not to withdraw its support for the Dahal government.

The meeting, however, did not make any decision on whom to support in the presidential election, RSP core member Deepak Bohara told Setopati.

“We have not yet reached a decision on who to support in the presidential elections. We are currently in a wait and see mode,” Bohara said. “We will discuss it again and make a decision. However, support for the government will continue.”

RSP resigned from the government on February 5 over Prime Minister Dahal’s refusal to hand over the Interior Ministry to the party.

Subash Chandra Nembang of CPN-UML and Ram Chandra Paudel of the Nepal Congress have submitted nominations for the presidential election scheduled for March 9.

Paudel is the common candidate of eight parties. He also met with the RSP president, Rabbi Lamichhane, and sought his support in the elections.
