Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav Elected as Nepal’s Vice President

Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) leader Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has been elected Nepal’s third vice president.

Yadav defeated Ashta Laxmi Shakya of the CPN-UML and Mamata Jha of the Janamat Party in elections held on Friday.

Yadav is the leader of the JSP parliamentary party. He was elected to the Bara-2 House of Representatives in the November 20 general election.

According to the Electoral Commission, Yadav has received a total of 30,328 weighted votes: 14,536 from 184 federal legislators and 15,792 from 329 provincial assembly members.

The Electoral Commission, however, has not yet made an official announcement.

Mamata Jha – 15

Pramila Kumari Yadav – 1

Votes of members of the federal parliament:

Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav – 184

Mamata Jha – 23

Pramila Kumari Yadav – 0
