Bangladesh beat world champions England to clinch the T20 series

DHAKA, March 15 – Bangladesh beat England by 16 runs in the third and final International Twenty20 cricket match to clinch the series 3-0 at Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Batting first, Bangladesh set a target of 158 runs in their allotted 20 overs, losing two wickets.

With 73 runs from Liton Das, the hosts set their final target after Najmul Hossain Shanto contributed 47 more.

Defending 158-2, Bangladesh got off to a bright start with the ball.

Taskin Ahmed took two wickets while Tanvir Islam, Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman each took a wicket to lead their side to victory over the visitors.

The Bangladeshi bowlers kept their nerves defending the 159-run target, restricting England to 142-6 in their 20 overs.

Dawid Malan was England’s top scorer with 53 runs.
