The Government imposes a period of silence of 48 hours in the publicity of the vice-presidential elections

KATHMANDU, March 14 – In an effort to ensure a fair and transparent vice-presidential election, the government has imposed a 48-hour period of silence on election publicity.

The Electoral Commission has requested that all persons refrain from any discussion, meeting, or other activity related to the election, whether virtual or physical.

The silent period begins at midnight today and will continue until the March 17 election.

Candidates for the post of vice president include Asta Laxmi Shakya of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Marxist-Leninist, Mamata Jha of the Janamat Party and Ramsaya Prasad Yadav of the Janata Samajbadi Party.
