Janamat party claims vice-president post

KATHMANDU, March 10: The Janamat Party, one of eight members of the current Nepali government coalition led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has nominated Mamata Jha for the post of Vice President of Nepal. Dilip Shah, vice president of the party, confirmed the news of the nomination.

This move comes after Ram Chandra Poudel of the Nepal Congress was elected as the President of Nepal. In addition, the Election Commission (EC) of Nepal mandated the nomination of female candidates for the post of vice president, adding a new dimension to the vice-presidential race.

The nomination of Mamata Jha by the Janamat Party will be subject to the approval of the government and the Election Commission. If successful, Jha will be one of the leading candidates for the post of vice president of Nepal.
