Two arrested for November 28 attack on KMC police chief Raju Pandey

Two people have been arrested on charges of attacking Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Police Chief Raju Pandey in November last year.

Police on Thursday arrested two people accused of attacking Pandey, according to Police Superintendent Sitaram Rijal, a spokesman for the Kathmandu Police District (DPRK).

Pandey and other municipal police personnel were attacked while going to evacuate the Thapathali landless squatter settlement on 28 November 2022.

Pandey suffered head injuries and other police personnel were also injured in the attack.

Police on Thursday arrested Narayan Parishrami and Hukum Bahadur Lama, who were involved in the attack. Parishrami was arrested at Sunsari and Lama in Shankhamul of Kathmandu.

KMC had filed a complaint with the DPRK after the incident.

Police are preparing to extend his custody for the investigation of attempted murder and criminal mischief.

KMC had also sought help from the Home Office some time ago to remove landless squatters from the bank of the Bagmati river in Thapathali.
