PM Dahal wants Deuba or Sitaula to be the next Prez

KATHMANDU, Feb 22: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been reported to have nominated Sher Bahadur Deuba or Krishna Prasad Sitaula to be the next president of the country.

Prime Minister Dahal’s proposal came at a time when the Nepali Congress was preparing to nominate its top leader Ram Chandra Poudel along with Sitaula, Gopal Man Shrestha and Man Bahadur BK.

Likewise, the Loktantri Samajbadi Party is also considering the post of president. The party wants its president, Mahantha Thakur, to be elected as the country’s new president.

According to a CPN (Maoist Center) leader, Prime Minister Deuba wants Deuba to be the country’s president so that Dahal can remain in the post of prime minister for the next five years.

Following Prime Minister Dahal’s proposal, the Nepalese Congress has convened a meeting of its top leaders tonight.

Meanwhile, the CPN-UML, a key member of the Dahal-led government coalition, wants the president to be someone from their party.
