Chinese top diplomat to meet Putin ahead of Ukraine anniversary

KATHMANDU, February 22: China’s top diplomat Wang Yi will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow as tensions rise over Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Wang Yi, who has been touring Europe, says he hopes that new deals with Russia will emerge from his visit.
China and Russia say they “oppose all forms of bullying” as the US and EU prepare more sanctions against Russia.
The United States says China is considering supplying Russia with arms and ammunition, a claim Beijing strongly denies.
US President Joe Biden will later meet NATO leaders from Eastern Europe as part of a visit to Poland to mark the anniversary of the war.
And thousands of people are expected to join Russian President Vladimir Putin at a concert at the Luzhniki stadium in Moscow.
