Three months after finishing the lyrics, he recorded the chorus on the keys and uploaded it to TikTok.

The lyrics of the chorus read: Jindagi Sarara Motor Gadima / Dheknele Dekhijanchha/ Bujhnele Bujhijanchha / Bhetnele Bhetijanchha Ni. This translates as life goes on, in your car (or motorcycle)/Those who can finally see it/Those who can finally understand it.

The upbeat tune soon caught the attention of TikTokers, and before long, the chorus went viral on the video-sharing app. “The unexpected response from the chorus inspired me to fully flesh out the song,” says Sushant Ghimire.

In 2015, Sushant Ghimire started covering songs and posting them on social media. At the same time, he also began to learn guitar on his own. Some of the covers of him from kali pari, Aankhako Nind and najeek are still available on his official YouTube account.

Raised in Biratnagar, Ghimire was fond of Hindi music from childhood. He would spend all day listening to singers like Atif Aslam and Kailash Kher. However, she never thought of becoming a professional singer.

Ghimire then began pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering, but was unable to complete it successfully. He left.

Then, to get through his days, Sushant Ghimire started writing and composing songs. She began to find life and happiness in him. That feeling motivated him to pursue music professionally and he wrote more songs.

By then, he was already aware of the importance of the original songs. However, it took him five years to release a debut single, Parisin 2020.

“To stand in music and create their own identity, an artist must have an original song,” says Ghimire.

While becoming a professional artist makes Sushant Ghimire happy and proud, he also shares the challenges of being one. The first challenge is always funding and the second is about selecting gigs.

“Without proper funding, it’s hard to record the songs and release them,” says Ghimire, “As an original singer, it’s also hard to decide if I should do a cover concert.”

The joy of performing one’s own song in concert is not found in performing cover songs, adds Sushant Ghimire.

But where there is a will, there is a way. Ghimire is also one of Mantra’s artists, supported by Mantra Guitars, an initiative by Mantra Guitars to promote new and emerging artists, which has helped him overcome these challenges.

“Since my early days, Mantra Guitar has been my mainstay, supporting me to make music financially and musically,” he says.

Currently, Sushant Ghimire is busy with his debut album which is due to be released this year. According to him, the album will also have a Hindi song.

Ghimire just doesn’t want to limit his musical abilities by writing songs; he wants to explore them further. In that regard, he also gave a musical performance in the play Kohi Kina Barbad Hos directed by Che Shankar, which was staged at the Kunja Theater in 2022.

He says, “I want to work more in the theater to hone my skills.”
