3rd Tiger Cup Volleyball Championship: Gandaki, Army and Armed Police win

Gandaki Pradesh, the winner of the first edition of Tiger Cup, got off to a good start by defeating Nepal Police Club in straight sets.

Gandaki, who performed well in spike, block and placing, scored three points by defeating Nepal Police Club 3-0 in straight sets in the men’s competition on Sunday.

In a match that saw the combination of Ravi KC, Hari Pandey and Nitin, Gandaki had to compete to win the first set. In the first set of 25-23, Gandaki created pressure on Police with his favor. In the second set, the police became even weaker. After winning the second set 25-20, Police became even weaker. Gandaki took the third set 25-16 after Nitin’s excellent block and quick hitting made the Police feel comfortable. Gandaki, who led the last set by 17-7 points, took the last set but Police tried to show a low back signal but could not be confident.

Organized by Tiger Group, in the next men’s match at the Volleyball Training Center in Pokhara Stadium, the Armed Police Force registered an exciting victory over Tribhuvan Army Club of the Nepalese Army and started the 3rd Tiger Cup Volleyball Championship. In the club level volleyball championship, the Armed Forces came back to win the set 3-1. After losing the first set, Armed won the last three sets in their favor to win over Army in the departmental derby.

Army won the first set 25-20 but could not maintain its rhythm in the second, third and fourth sets. Although it was estimated that they would dominate the armed forces, the last three sets were handed over to the armed forces after a poor performance by the army. Armed defeated Army’s challenge in sets of 25-22, 26-24 and 25-19.

On the women’s side, Army had a pleasant journey by defeating Hongwanji New Diamond Sports Club in straight sets. In the first women’s competition held on Sunday, Army defeated New Diamond competitively by 27-25, 25-17 and 25-23. The absence of New Diamond’s talent also helped Army to win.

Coming to the third edition of Tiger Group, the prize money has been increased. In both men and women, the winning team will receive Rs 5-5 lakh in cash, the runner-up team will receive Rs 250,000 in cash, the third-placed team will receive Rs 125,000 in cash and the consolation team will receive Rs 65,000 in cash along with trophies and certificates. Devendra KC, coordinator of the competition, informed. The best male and female players will receive Rs 25,000/25,000 in cash. The competition was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Khagraj Adhikari.
