Makwanpur Gold Cup will be held from Magh 29

This year’s local level Shahid Smriti Makwanpur Gold Cup football tournament will be held from this 29th of Magh.

The working committee meeting of the organizer Makwanpur District Football Association held on Saturday decided to hold the fifth edition of the Makwanpur Gold Cup from Magh 29 to Falgun11.

Earlier, it was said to hold the competition from Falgun 4th, but it was decided to hold it from the 29th as other Gold Cups will be held at that time. The working committee meeting has decided to give the responsibility of the coordinator of the competition to the association president Tikaram Lama.

The winner of this tournament, in which 12 teams will participate, will receive a cash prize of 15 lakhs and the runner-up will receive a trophy and certificate along with 10 lakh rupees. In previous years, the best player of the tournament was getting a bullet motorcycle.

This year too, the sponsor for Bullet will be offered with Hetauda School of Management, the organizers said. The best players and coaches of the tournament will receive a trophy along with cash. Organizers estimate that the tournament will cost Rs 1 crore 41 lakh. The organizers have intensified the preparations for the competition.

We are preparing for the Gold Cup from today. We have started talking with the participating clubs’, the organizing football association president Lama said, ‘We have taken the experience of the previous years and made preparations to hold the competition in a decent and grand manner.’

The tournament will be held at the Pipley-Campa Stadium located in Hetauda 5. The local levels along with the Bagmati Province Sports Development Council have been providing financial support to this competition.

The fourth edition of Makwanpur Gold Cup was won by Tribhuvan Army Football Club defeating home team Vijay Youth Club.
