British actor Julian Sands, known for his work on shows like “24” and movies like “A Room with a View” and “Arachnophobia,” has been identified as a hiker who has been missing since last Friday on California’s Mount Baldy. at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Sands was reported missing on Jan. 13 around 7:30 p.m., department spokeswoman Gloria Huerta told CNN.

CNN has reached out to Sands’ representatives for comment.

Mount Baldy is located in the San Gabriel Mountains of San Bernardino County.

Search and rescue teams were on the mountain looking for sand, but severe weather and the threat of avalanches forced rescuers to suspend their search efforts, Huerta said.

Officials continue to use drones to search for sand, but are limited with other sources because of the weather on Mount Baldy, Huerta added.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department recently issued a warning to hikers about visiting Mount Baldy, where high winds and ice make conditions dangerous.

in Post on FacebookThe agency said that over the past four weeks, search and rescue teams have responded to 14 rescue missions in and around Mount Baldy.

“These rescue missions are for lost, stranded and/or injured hikers. Unfortunately, in these past 4 weeks, two hikers fell and injured themselves and did not survive,” the post said. “Recent storms that brought snow and ice conditions are not conducive to hikers, even though they feel a high level of experience.”

Sands’ other credits include “The Killing Fields” and TV shows such as “Leaving Las Vegas” and “Smallville.”

His most recent credits include a recurring role on the Netflix television series “What/If.”
