Martin Fehervary scored with his head, someone told him the World Cup was over

Martin February Just scored the most spectacular or stupid goal of his hockey career. I can’t choose which one.

Fehervári, a Slovakian national soccer team striker, headed the puck into the net to give the Capitals a 3–2 lead in the second period against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

[Talking to myself: please end up being the game-winning goal please end up being the game-winning goal please end up being the game-winning goal]

Fehervary scored after jumping in the air to avoid Dylan Strome’s wrist shot (why was he so low in the game in the first place???). Instead, Strom’s shot was blocked, the puck hit Fehervary in the head, and then moonshotted goalie Elvis Marzilinkins and inside.

To the best of my recollection (please tell me if I’m wrong), this is the first Capitals goal since Mathieu Perreault scored his iconic tongue-in-cheek goal.

I tell you, fate is like that, it’s all Feverish fever sign.

Update: Fehrbhari’s goal was the game winner. The Capitals won 6-2.
